Bella Reay pin badges celebrate a female footballing hero! Bella played for Blyth Spartans Munitionettes during the First World War, when women’s football was huge, drawing crowds into the tens of thousands and raising spirits in wartime Britain. Bella was the goalscoring hero of the side, netting 133 times in the 30 game Mtioneers Cup series that the Spartan won, Reay nabbing a hat trick! You can read all about her miraculous story here.
We have made these badges to support Leam Rangers U11 Girls Team, managed by a mate of ours. The team still struggles to attract sponsors for kit, so we are donating part of the profit from each f these badges to help them buy kit! Women’s football was hugely popular in war time Britain but was banned by the FA in 1921. We want to do our bit to redress that balance and help a girls side enjoy the game on a level playing field as they should!
There are only 100 of these badges, proudly made here in the UK.
