Brilliantly put piece Bruce. As a relative newcomer to the BSFC, you have described, what I hope to get out of my membership. I have watched you all, for a couple of years, admired even, that there are so many lads seemingly just like myself, all up for a good laugh, but I never thought of joining, because of my mistrust of any clubs, or organisations, memberships in general, is usually enough to put me off, besides how do you tell the wife, you`ve joined a sock club with fetish in the title? but the longer it has gone on, and the more I have seen and read, the more I have wanted to be involved, to strike up new friendships, have a good laugh, and do some bad poncing, with like minded people, lets face it, most of us have been going to the football for 25 years plus, probably with the same few lads(I know I have) and although I wouldn’t swap any of them for anything, I look forward to meeting some of you, and forging new friendships. I’ve written this on anonymous, because I am a shithouse. and I don’t need the piss taking I would get from my mates, but I do know I am looking forward to having a pint with some of you, and Bruce, for writing this piece, @Cogno and @Kev-cockney, for starting this thing of ours, the first ones on me.

This sums up exactly how I view this and how it should be. Really well written piece mate.

Yes it is about bad poncing, of course it is, that’s one of life’s pleasures, but more important, as you’ve captured, is the camaraderie and solidarity that goes with all of that ponce like behaviour.

It’s that part of it that makes me pin a BSFC badge to a jacket, polo shirt collar, jumper or hat (see poncing is important) rather than just wanting to show off my appreciation of nice socks.

I’ve met people I consider to be friends including you through this and anything that does that, when I think it’s easy to grow apart from people or feel quite detached, even when you’re in a crowd, is to be celebrated.
