Bella Reay Socks celebrate the legendary, record, wartime goalscorer of Blyth Spartans! She played at centre forward for Blyth & England, scoring 133 goals in one season in her team’s unbeaten run of 30 matches to win the Munitionettes’ Cup and was the best-known player. The team was disbanded during the 1918–19 season, and in 1921 the Football Association banned women’s football in England from using their grounds. However, several women’s football matches were organised in 1921 to raise funds for miners and their families during a three-month coal dispute.
We are donating part of the profit from these socks to the wonderful people at East End Women in Newcastle upon Tyne to support the work they do. this will be a tough winter for many families and we want to support our community as much as we can.
